Install lashing rails to secure cargo and prevent overturning

A lashing rail is a part of a cargo fixing and tipping prevention device attached to the bed of a wing body or van body. Lashing belts and lashing beams are attached to the lashing rails.

The main role of the lashing rail is to fix the cargo on the platform and prevent it from tipping over during travel.

The installation method is to fix with rivets along the holes in the lashing rail to the frame (bones and pillars) of the wing body and van body. In general, the veneer (plywood) of the interior material is cut to expose only the mounting surface of the lashing belt or lashing beam, and it is embedded and installed.

Lashing rails can also be retrofitted in this way. However, in the case of refrigerated trucks and freezer trucks, the surface material of the sandwich panel that makes up the body is aluminum material of about 0.8 mm, so even if the lashing rail is installed directly on the wall, the rail will be pulled off the wall by the pull of the belt. put away.

When manufacturing a new car, it is common to embed a reinforcing steel plate between the surface material of the panel and the heat insulating material, and install the lashing rail at the position of the reinforcing steel plate. In the case of retrofitting, an aluminum reinforcing plate called a lashing holder is installed on the panel surface, and a lashing rail is installed together with the reinforcing plate to provide strength by supporting the surface.

When installing, make the height and the position of the hole of the tip metal fitting (terminal metal fitting) of the lashing belt symmetrical. If the left and right are greatly misaligned, it will not be easy to use, and in the worst case, it will not be possible to install the lashing beam if it is tilted.

Lashing rails come in different materials and shapes

There are several types of lashing rails handled by Yamada Body Works. Regarding the shape, it can be divided into the following three types.

• Standard lashing rail (vertical type)
• Cross rail (type that can be used vertically or horizontally)
• For floor embedding (type to be installed in the floor frame)

In addition, there are three types of materials.

• made of iron
• stainless
• Aluminum

There are also other minor differences such as "types with mounting holes" and "types without mounting holes", so be sure to check carefully when selecting.

The holes in the lashing rails are designed to fit tip metal fittings (terminal metal fittings) that meet the standard of one-piece metal fittings for lashing belts and lashing beams. All types of lashing rails are compatible with common one-piece fittings.

Also, since lashing rails are made of metal, there is a danger of injuring people and cargo if they are installed in the loading dock without being exposed. In such cases, use a lashing rail end cover made of PP resin.
