H rubber

The Kannon door uses H rubber, which is a packing to prevent rainwater from entering the contact surface with the gate (gate frame). H rubber is a PVC material and comes in various types depending on the hardness and thickness of the door.

Management of H rubber is essential to maintain the quality of cargo

H rubber is used in the boundary between the double doors of trucks and the doors in order to improve waterproofness. When H rubber is exposed to UV rays, rainwater, and snow for a long period of time, the material itself loses its elasticity as it ages. Deterioration of H rubber can also cause water to enter the veneer and MDF material that is the core material of the double door, causing the aluminum surface material to float or peel off. Therefore, the H rubber itself must be replaced before it can no longer fulfill its original purpose.

Intrusion of rainwater into the cargo bed affects the quality of the cargo, so it is recommended to check the condition of the H rubber and replace it as soon as possible.

Type of H rubber

There are two types of H rubber: adhesive type and soft type.

The "adhesive type" is H rubber, also known as a two-piece gasket. With two-piece, the contact surface of the gate (gate frame) has the same flexibility as the soft type, but the installation surface on the door is made of a hard material with little deformation. For this reason, the H rubber and the door have good adhesion, making it easy to improve waterproofness. Adhere the H rubber to the core material of the double door with silicone caulking. After installation, caulking is applied to the edge of the door and H rubber to increase waterproofness.

The "soft type" is H rubber whose entire material is soft and has been mainly used for double doors over 30 years ago. At that time, the H rubber was sandwiched between thin aluminum plates called retainers, and it was installed by stapling it against the core material of the double door. With this method, the waterproofness of the core material of the double door is low, and there is a drawback that the door is likely to swell or rot when used for a long time due to water infiltration. Since the material itself is soft, it is less waterproof, but it can handle a slightly thicker door.

The size of the "adhesive type" is "13mm", "16mm" and "19mm", depending on the thickness of the door. For the size of "19mm", you can choose between "2500mm" and "3000mm (for low-floor trucks)" in length. Choose the one that fits the thickness and size of the door to be installed.

In addition to H rubber, Yamada Body Works also handles waterproof tapes, corner tabs, corner locks, PVC adhesives, etc., which are essential parts for making double doors. In addition, we also handle special parts such as the aluminum material used for the joint with the platform of the tailgate, waterproof packing rubber, etc., which are necessary when manufacturing the flip-up door.
