fuel tank cap
"Fuel tank cap" is a cap that closes the filler port of the fuel tank. If the fuel tank cap is missing or deteriorated, it must be replaced.
truck fuel tank cap
Truck fuel tank caps are generally of the type with a lock. The fuel tank of the truck is attached to the outside of the side member (the frame under the body), and since the fuel filler port is visible from the outside, anyone can open and close it unless the cap itself has a key. A lockable fuel tank cap is recommended to prevent fuel theft and tampering.
Since the engine, power transmission, exhaust pipe (muffler), etc. are located under the vehicle body, the fuel tank, which requires a large space, is installed outside the frame. In addition, large trucks may have multiple fuel tanks, and the same number of fuel tank caps as tanks is required.
Type of fuel tank cap
The fuel tank cap is determined by the fuel tank. Please check the manufacturer, model year, caliber, etc. before selecting the fuel tank cap. Attaching a cap to an unsuitable fuel tank may damage the fuel tank.
There are caps with and without keys, so please choose according to your key needs. The keyed fuel tank cap has a keyhole in the center, so you can use the key to unlock it and then turn the main unit to remove it from the fuel filler port. After closing the cap, it is locked with a key so that it cannot be opened simply by turning the main body.
From 2021, UN-R34 (Agreement Regulation No. 34) approved fuel tanks for sub-tanks (not genuine line items) will be on sale. It is a new standard product that is generally called "R-34 compatible" or "with E mark". The feature is that it has a double structure with an inner lid inside the fuel filler port so that fuel does not leak even when the vehicle rolls over.
In the past, the structure was such that air entered from the fuel tank cap so as not to be in a vacuum state when sucking fuel into the engine. However, the "R-34 compatible" has a sealed structure that does not allow air to enter due to the emphasis on airtightness. As a result, the structure prevents fuel from leaking even when the vehicle rolls over.
Conventional fuel tanks and "R-34 compatible" fuel tanks are not compatible with fuel tank caps. Please note that only fuel tank caps with "R-34 compatible" in the product name can be used for "R-34 compatible" fuel tanks.
