fender
The presence of fenders is essential for the longevity of the truck body. Fenders come in a variety of shapes and materials.
fender effect
Truck fenders are intended to prevent rainwater, mud, and pebbles that are picked up by tires from sticking to the vehicle body while driving, and to prevent them from flying to the following vehicles. If the fender is used for a long time, deterioration progresses, and there may be holes due to rust or damage. If so, the purpose of the fender will not be fulfilled, and the fender itself will have to be replaced.
Types of fenders and how to choose them
The fenders are a "square fender" that is half a hexagon, a "round fender" that is semicircular, a "dump type fender" that is mainly used for dump trucks, and a flat shape with a ceiling only at the front and back. There is no "splash fender". Depending on the type of truck, there are shapes that cannot be installed, so be sure to check the tire housing (the gap between the tire and the vehicle body) and tire width before purchasing.
Rectangular finder is used in the most cargo beds. With a wide variety of sizes and shapes, it can be matched to the cargo bed. The round fender is a shape that is mainly used in specially equipped vehicles. The dump type fender is a shape mainly used for dumping. The splash fender is a fender with only the front and rear parts to prevent splashing without a ceiling part. It is mainly used before and after biaxial tires.
Materials include "stainless" and "iron".
"Stainless steel" is rust-resistant and glossy, so it is suitable for trucks that run on snowy roads and trucks that emphasize appearance. There are also two types of "stainless steel", SUS304 and NSSC180 can be selected. SUS304 is rust-resistant and suitable for trucks that frequently use snow-covered roads with snow-melting agents (potassium chloride, etc.). SUS304 does not stick to magnets. NSSC180 is inferior to SUS304 in corrosion resistance (strength against rust). If snow melting agent adheres to the NSSC180 fender, it will leave marks unless it is washed away immediately. NSSC180 also has a magnet. SUS304 and NSSC180 are almost the same in appearance. NSSC180 fenders are cheaper than SUS304 fenders, so they are suitable for trucks in areas that do not drive on snowy roads because they emphasize appearance.
On the other hand, "iron" is easy to rust, so it needs painting and regular maintenance, but it is cheap and it is possible to keep costs down. Yamada Body Works handles fenders made of bonde steel. Bonded steel sheets are steel sheets that have undergone bonde treatment (phosphate treatment) on iron. The surface color is gray. The bonder treatment is thin as a coating, so painting is always required.
Yamada Body Works has four types of shapes: "square fender", "round fender", "dump type fender" and "splash fender". In addition, we handle three types of materials: "stainless steel SUS304", "stainless steel NSSC180", and "iron Hongdae steel plate". There are sizes for 2t, 2t wide, 4t, and 4t extra-ton vehicles, so you can choose the fender that fits your cargo bed.
